Leadership

Dr. Goldsteen is the co-founder of VigiLanz, and serves as Chairman and CEO. He is a founder and former Chairman and CEO of Vascular Science, Inc., purchased by St. Jude Medical (NASDAQ:STJ). He is the founder and Managing Partner of Global Capital Investments, LLC, a boutique merchant banking group. He previously served as a board member/financier of SurVivaLink, a medical device manufacturer sold to Cardiac Science (NASDAQ:DFIB), MediaDVX, a digital media provider sold to NetStar LP, InfoPet, a veterinary microchipping company, and Quantech, Ltd, a medical diagnostics company. From 1988–1993 he served as Vice President of Medical Affairs for Emergency Services at Health One, a predecessor of Allina Hospitals and Clinics, a diversified healthcare delivery organization. Dr. Goldsteen is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Medical School, performing his residency in Internal Medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN. He received board certifications in internal medicine and emergency medicine. He received his M.B.A. in 1994 from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota.

Adam has been with VigiLanz since 2001 and is one of its founding members. He has expertise in designing, building and supporting large-scale data driven applications and is responsible for driving the technological vision of the company. Prior to joining VigiLanz, Adam held technical positions with DaVinci Software, Software Architects, and Red Sky Technologies. He holds a B.A. in political science from the University of Kansas, as well as an M.A. in Public Administration from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Jim is responsible for architecture, management and reliability of the VigiLanz Private Cloud infrastructure. As a Certified Information Systems Security Professional, and chair of the Security and Performance committee, he leads VigiLanz’s Information Security program by developing Policy, Standards, Procedures and a Secure Environment to protect sensitive data. Jim, with an electrical engineering background, has years of experience designing networks, distributed control and power distribution systems for mission-critical heavy industry processes.

Craig leads the company’s technical organization. He oversees all software development projects devoted to continuous enhancement of VigiLanz’s current product portfolio, as well as system security and interoperability services with third-party EMR platforms and best-of-breed vendors. Craig has extensive experience in systems design and relational data model design. His background includes architecting and leading software development in the manufacturing, financial services, telecom and retail services sectors. Craig holds a B.S. in computer science from Northern Illinois University.

With more than two decades of pharmacy services, patient safety, and medication management system experience, Dr. Hayley Burgess has spearheaded many successful initiatives to enhance medication safety and risk mitigation. As Chief Clinical Officer, she provides leadership oversight and strategic vision for the VigiLanz clinical teams, leads regulatory affairs activities, and supports clinical innovations and product development. Prior to VigiLanz, Hayley served as AVP, Pharmacy Services for HCA Healthcare. In this role, she developed the pharmacy services and medication management strategy and vision for 185 hospital and 120 ambulatory surgery center programs.

Shannon joined the VigiLanz team in 2020, and brings over 15 years of healthcare IT marketing and management experience with a strong focus in product marketing, market intelligence, strategic planning and sales enablement. Prior to joining VigiLanz, Shannon held leadership positions at market-leading organizations including Optum, 3M and Wolters Kluwer. Shannon graduated with a BBA in Information Systems Analysis and Design from the Wisconsin School of Business at University of Wisconsin-Madison.e

Walker has built a career in healthcare focused on helping growth stage companies surpass their revenue goals.  His specialties include digital health, managed services, and medical device. Over his career Walker has built three national sales organizations leading each of these teams to become the national leader in their respective space.  He received his undergraduate degree from Western Kentucky University with a focus on Advertising as well as Sales and Marketing.

Besher Tabbara brings more than two decades of product research, development, management, and marketing experience in medical devices to his role at VigiLanz. He is passionate about building products that help customers improve patient outcomes, enhance patient safety, and accelerate clinical care and efficiency. Besher has held product leadership roles at Siemens Healthineers, Bernoulli Health of Capsule Technologies, Spacelabs Healthcare, and Draeger Medical. Prior to joining VigiLanz, Besher founded Carensics, a medical device security and health IT network surveillance firm. He earned a bioengineering degree from Marquette University and an MBA from Boston University. He is a co-inventor of multiple US and international medical device patents.

Char has directed Human Resources for VigiLanz since its inception in 2001. She has extensive experience developing and implementing Human Resources and overall administration for early-stage medical organizations. Her broad experience includes benefits, employee relations, payroll, talent acquisition and management. Additionally, Char is hands on with finance in her role assisting the CFO. She has supported companies from launch through IPO, and has contributed to PMA and 510K submissions. She is passionate about employees achieving a healthy work/life balance, and is a contributing member of the VigiLanz Leadership Team, as well as the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

David Abelson

Director

David Abelson, MD has had a career in medicine, health system design, and executive leadership. David trained in general internal medicine and after a time in private practice joined a large integrated delivery system, Park Nicollet Health Services. In 2010 David became CEO of Park Nicollet Health Services and led the direction of Park Nicollet to value-based payment resulting in a merger with HealthPartners in 2013. As Senior Vice President of HealthPartners and CEO of Park Nicollet, David led a delivery system with multiple hospitals, clinics and specialties with a combined annual revenue of $2.2 billion. David retired in 2014 and is now President of the Institute for Clinical Systems Improvement.

Jeff Zalasky

Director

Jeff Zalasky, JD served as General Counsel for VigiLanz until his retirement in 2014 and currently serves as an observer of the board of directors. He is a vice president of Global Capital Investments, LLC, a boutique merchant banking group. Jeff served on the board of Vascular Science, Inc. prior to its acquisition by St. Jude Medical in 1999, and he was a board observer for MediaDVX. Jeff received his law degree from Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota.

David Klass

Observer

Dr. Klass is the developer of VigiLanz’s prototype technology and served as Chief Medical Officer from the company’s founding in 2001 through his retirement in 2014. He has had a long-term interest in the logic of pharmacy ordering systems and the relation of these systems to laboratory results and the creation of tools that could mine and combine both systems intelligently. Dr. Klass graduated from the University of Manitoba and the University of Chicago. He lives in Spain and Chicago.
