Leadership

Dr. Goldsteen is the co-founder of VigiLanz, and serves as Chairman and CEO. He is a founder and former Chairman and CEO of Vascular Science, Inc., purchased by St. Jude Medical (NASDAQ:STJ). He is the founder and Managing Partner of Global Capital Investments, LLC, a boutique merchant banking group. He previously served as a board member/financier of SurVivaLink, a medical device manufacturer sold to Cardiac Science (NASDAQ:DFIB), MediaDVX, a digital media provider sold to NetStar LP, InfoPet, a veterinary microchipping company, and Quantech, Ltd, a medical diagnostics company. From 1988–1993 he served as Vice President of Medical Affairs for Emergency Services at Health One, a predecessor of Allina Hospitals and Clinics, a diversified healthcare delivery organization. Dr. Goldsteen is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Medical School, performing his residency in Internal Medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN. He received board certifications in internal medicine and emergency medicine. He received his M.B.A. in 1994 from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota.

With more than two decades of pharmacy services, patient safety, and medication management system experience, Dr. Hayley Burgess has spearheaded many successful initiatives to enhance medication safety and risk mitigation. As both Chief Operating Officer and Chief Clinical Officer, she provides leadership oversight and strategic vision for the VigiLanz clinical teams, leads regulatory affairs activities, and supports clinical innovations and product development. Prior to VigiLanz, Hayley served as AVP, Pharmacy Services for HCA Healthcare. In this role, she developed the pharmacy services and medication management strategy and vision for 185 hospital and 120 ambulatory surgery center programs.

Mike joined the VigiLanz team in 2018 as Vice President of Finance, and stepped into the role of Chief Financial Officer in 2022. Mike brings a wealth of financial planning and management experience in the healthcare industry to this strategic leadership position. He received a bachelor’s degree in finance from Santa Clara University.

Khai brings over 15 years of experience with information technology and security to his role at VigiLanz. He has spent the majority of his career in finance and insurance/medical, where he established three industry-leading security programs from the ground up. He was previously the Chief Information Security Officer at a Fortune-100 financial institution where he was responsible for its Cybersecurity Program, Security Operations, Identity and Access Management, Governance and Compliance, and the Privacy Program. Khai received a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering and Cyber Security from University Illinois Chicago and Western Governors.

Jamie’s impressive 25-year career in healthcare has provided him with a deep understanding of how to scale healthcare organizations to next level growth through the development of new markets, territory expansion, and strategic alliance partnerships. Prior to joining VigiLanz, Jamie held leadership roles at organizations such as Wolters Kluwer, Innovatient Solutions, Thomson Reuters, and Cerner. Jamie received his Master of Business Administration degree specializing in finance and economics from Rockhurst University.

Chris joined VigiLanz in 2014 as a Pharmacy Product Specialist where he focused on the implementation and on-going support of our Pharmacy and Antimicrobial Stewardship services. Since then he has worked in various roles at VigiLanz and in 2018 began managing our Safety and Discrete Services. Prior to VigiLanz, Chris completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at the VA in New York City. He was an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the Arnold & Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Long Island University, for three years before taking on a managerial role at Lenox Hill Hospital. Chris earned his PharmD degree from the University of Michigan.

Nag has over two decades of experience in software development and has been with the VigiLanz technical team since 2011, where he maintained and improved product and development workflows while increasing the effectiveness of both. As VP of Software Development, he leverages his extensive technical knowledge of VigiLanz to streamline and innovate our business. He received his graduate degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology with a focus on software development and databases.

Daniel has 20 years of experience in building and implementing innovative changes in many different areas of the healthcare system, including the payer, inpatient, and outpatient provider sides. In his previous role, he built products that enabled high acuity care in the home, created a hospitalization-at-home program during the height of the pandemic, and helped his former company through an acquisition. Daniel brings a passionate focus to building useful tools that help improve the lives of others. He holds a Bachelors in Business and a Masters in Engineering Management.

Jocasta joined VigiLanz early 2022 and has since launched VigiLanz University and other process improvement efforts for the organization. Her expertise lies in leading organizational issue resolutions and successfully implementing initiatives that solve for industry challenges. Her health care knowledge draws from PBM, Health System, and Health Plan experience at both the facility and corporate level. Jocasta is a champion for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Lipscomb University, a master’s degree in business administration from Capella University, and a doctor of pharmacy degree from University of Tennessee.

David Abelson

Director

David Abelson, MD has had a career in medicine, health system design, and executive leadership. David trained in general internal medicine and after a time in private practice joined a large integrated delivery system, Park Nicollet Health Services. In 2010 David became CEO of Park Nicollet Health Services and led the direction of Park Nicollet to value-based payment resulting in a merger with HealthPartners in 2013. As Senior Vice President of HealthPartners and CEO of Park Nicollet, David led a delivery system with multiple hospitals, clinics and specialties with a combined annual revenue of $2.2 billion. David retired in 2014 and is now President of the Institute for Clinical Systems Improvement.

Jeff Zalasky

Director

Jeff Zalasky, JD served as General Counsel for VigiLanz until his retirement in 2014 and currently serves as an observer of the board of directors. He is a vice president of Global Capital Investments, LLC, a boutique merchant banking group. Jeff served on the board of Vascular Science, Inc. prior to its acquisition by St. Jude Medical in 1999, and he was a board observer for MediaDVX. Jeff received his law degree from Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota.

David Klass

Observer

Dr. Klass is the developer of VigiLanz’s prototype technology and served as Chief Medical Officer from the company’s founding in 2001 through his retirement in 2014. He has had a long-term interest in the logic of pharmacy ordering systems and the relation of these systems to laboratory results and the creation of tools that could mine and combine both systems intelligently. Dr. Klass graduated from the University of Manitoba and the University of Chicago. He lives in Spain and Chicago.
